Sonesta St. Maarten has two distinct resorts side by side. Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is a family-friendly all-inclusive with 420 rooms, a Kids Club, and a full entertainment program. Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is an adults-only luxury experience with 130 suites, butler service, and exclusive à la carte dining. Maho Beach Resort also features the Ultimate Adults Only Club, an exclusive section for guests on Club floors with premium amenities and rooftop access.

What is the minimum age for Sonesta Ocean Point Resort?

Can Ocean Point guests use Maho Beach Resort facilities?

Yes. Sonesta Ocean Point Resort guests have full access to all restaurants, bars, pools, beach areas, and amenities at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort — giving you the best of both resorts during your stay.

Can Sonesta Maho Beach Resort guests use Sonesta Ocean Point Resort facilities?

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort guests do not have access to Sonesta Ocean Point Resort facilities. Sonesta Ocean Point Resort is designed as a separate adults-only luxury experience with exclusive amenities.

Can Sonesta Maho Beach Resort guests use the Ocean Point gym?

The Ocean Point gym is reserved for Ocean Point guests and Ultimate Club guests only. Sonesta Maho Beach Resort guests may use the resort’s fitness center located on the 3rd floor.

Are alcoholic drinks included?

Yes. Your all-inclusive stay includes unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

What daily activities are included?

Is there evening entertainment?

Is there a gym?

Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. Premium Wi-Fi packages are available for purchase:

Rates & Policies

Are there additional resort fees?

No. There are no additional resort fees. However, a $50 per night incidental hold will be placed on your credit card at check-in. This is a temporary hold, not a charge, and any unused amount will be released after check-out.

Are payment plans available?

Flexible payment options may be available when booking flight + hotel packages through our website or contact our reservations team. Email reservations@sonestastmaarten.com for assistance.

Can I reserve now and pay the balance later?

Some rates allow you to secure your reservation with a deposit, with the remaining balance due prior to arrival. Always refer to the deposit and payment terms specific to your reservation.

What is the cancellation policy?

Many of our rates come with a flexible cancellation option. Always refer to the cancellation policy specific to the rate you are reviewing.

What happens if there is a hurricane?

We understand that severe weather can affect travel plans. Our hurricane policy covers cancellations, arrival delays, early departures, and departure delays in the event of a Category 1 or higher hurricane warning affecting Sint Maarten or your departure gateway. Are there discounts for returning guests?

Guests can join the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty program to earn points and receive exclusive benefits.

Can visitors purchase a day pass to the resort?
Sonesta Maho Beach Resort offers a limited number of Day Passes, subject to resort occupancy. Pricing starts at:

Adults: $119 per person
Children (6–12): $49
Children under 5: Free

Day passes are not available at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort.

Can friends visit me at the resort?

Visiting guests may purchase a Day Pass for Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, subject to availability, which is contingent on resort occupancy. Day passes are not available at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort.

Entry Requirements

Do I need a passport to visit St. Maarten?

Yes. All visitors must have a valid passport for the entire duration of their stay. If you are traveling on a passport from a visa-required country, you will also need a valid visa sticker in your passport, which must remain valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended stay.

Do I need a returning our continuing ticket?

Yes. All visitors must have a return or continuing ticket.

Do I need to fill out an entry form?

Yes. All visitors are required to fill out the Sint Maarten entry form in advance at entry.sx

Getting to the Resorts

How far is Sonesta St. Maarten from the airport?

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Sonesta Ocean Point Resort are located about 1 mile (1.6 km) from Princess Juliana International Airport, making the transfer quick and convenient.

Can I walk from Princess Juliana Airport to the resort?

Walking is not recommended because there is no dedicated pedestrian walkway. A taxi ride takes about 5 minutes and is the safest option.

Does the resort provide airport transfers?

The resorts do not offer airport shuttle service. However, taxis are readily available outside the airport, and our front desk team can assist with arranging return transportation.

How much is a taxi from the airport to the resort?

Typical taxi fares are:

  • $10–15 USD for 1–2 guests
  • $6 per additional guest
  • First bag included; additional luggage about $2 per bag

Taxi fares are paid directly to the driver and must be paid in cash — no credit cards are accepted by most taxi drivers. Fares are subject to change without notice.

Check-In & Check-Out

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Standard check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM.

Is there an incidental hold at check-in?

Yes. A $50 per night hold will be placed on your credit card at check-in — whether online or in person. This is a temporary hold to cover any incidental expenses during your stay, not an actual charge. Any unused amount will be released after check-out. Depending on your bank, it may take 3–7 business days for the funds to return to your account. We accept American Express, Visa, and Mastercard.

Can I check in online before arrival?

Yes. Save time on arrival by completing your online check-in the day before you arrive. If you need assistance with your confirmation number, contact reservations at reservations@sonestastmaarten.com

What do I need to do when I arrive at the resort?

When you check in you will need to:

  • Present your passport or national ID
  • Pick up your wristband
  • Sign the Guest Conduct policy
  • Receive important resort information together with your welcome drink
What ID is required at check-in?

All guests must present a valid government-issued ID. Accepted forms include a passport or national identification card.

Can I check in early?

Early check-in is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed in advance. If your room is not yet ready, you are welcome to securely store your luggage at the front desk and enjoy the resort’s amenities in the meantime. To guarantee early check-in, we recommend booking the night prior to your arrival.

Is late check-out available?

Late check-out is subject to availability and may incur an additional fee. Check-outs after 3:00 PM will be charged the full nightly rate.

Can I use the resort after check-out?

Yes. Guests are welcome to remain on property and enjoy all resort amenities until 3:00 PM on the day of departure.

Rooms & Accommodation

Can a family of five stay in one room?

Rooms at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort have a maximum occupancy of four guests including children, maximum 3 adults. Families of five or more should book two rooms, preferably connecting rooms when available. It is important to book the correct number of guests and ages to avoid additional person charges at check-in.

Are connecting rooms available?

Yes. Connecting rooms are available in limited numbers, are subject to availability, and cannot be guaranteed.

Are two-bedroom suites available?

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort does not offer two-bedroom suites. Larger families typically book two separate rooms. Sonesta Ocean Point Resort offers the Royale Two-Bedroom Butler Penthouse, with a maximum occupancy of four adults.

Are pull-out sofas available at Ocean Point Resort?

No. Suites at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort accommodate guests only with existing bedding configurations.

Do rooms have bathtubs?

Rooms at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort have showers only. Butler Suites at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort include bathtubs.

Do you have accessibility rooms?

Yes. The accessible room type at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is the Oasis Pool View, located on the first floor. At Sonesta Ocean Point Resort, the accessible room types are the Swim-out Junior Suite and Junior Suite Double. Please note these room types are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. What electrical outlets are used in the rooms?
Rooms use 110/120V outlets, the same as in the United States and Canada. No adapter is needed for American or Canadian devices.
What coffee makers are in the rooms?

What is the restaurant dress code?

Restaurants follow a Resort Casual dress code. Some venues require Resort Elegant attire. For full dress code details visit:

Are gluten-free dining options available?

Yes. All restaurants offer gluten-free menu options. Please inform your server of any dietary needs or allergies when ordering.

Do I need dinner reservations?

No reservations are required. Dining is on a first come, first served basis.

Is room service available?

Room service is available 24 hours a day at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort. At Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, room service is not available, except for guests staying in Ultimate Club rooms, where it is offered during limited evening hours.

What restaurants and bars are available?

Destination & Beaches

Does the resort have beach access?

Yes. Guests have access to two beautiful beach areas:

  • Palms Beach — a resort-exclusive elevated beach area
  • Maho Beach — the famous public beach known for world-class plane spotting

Both areas provide loungers for resort guests.

How far is Mullet Bay Beach from the resort?

Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is located directly on Maho Beach, one of St. Maarten’s most iconic stretches of sand, famous for its world-class plane spotting. Mullet Bay Beach, another beautiful option on the island, is just a short 10-minute walk away.

Is there sargassum on the beach?

The beaches surrounding our resort are naturally protected from seasonal sargassum, so it is not typically present in our area. Guests can enjoy clear waters, the excitement of Maho Beach’s world-famous plane spotting, and the soft, beautiful sands of nearby Mullet Bay.

When is the best time to visit St. Maarten?

Winter (December – April)
This is the most popular time to visit, featuring sunny days, low humidity, and pleasant temperatures—perfect for beach days and outdoor activities.

Spring (May – June)
A wonderful time to enjoy warm weather with fewer crowds. The island feels more relaxed, and it’s ideal for a peaceful getaway.

Summer (July – August)
Expect warmer temperatures and a lively atmosphere. This season is great for families and travelers looking to enjoy vibrant island energy.

Fall (September – November)

Do you have a spa?

Yes. Serenity Spa is located on the 3rd floor of Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, offering a full range of massages, treatments, and wellness experiences. In addition, guests can experience outdoor massages at Serenity Point and the Zen Garden. Spa services are available at an additional fee and are not included in the all-inclusive package. Do you have a tour desk?

Do you have a car rental at the resort?

Yes. A Dollar/Thrifty rental desk is located in the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort lobby. You can also reserve a vehicle in advance at dollarthriftysxm.com.

Is parking available at the resort?

Yes. Covered parking is available at the Maho Village parking garage, located just steps from the resort.

How much does parking cost?

Resort guests receive a preferred parking rate of $10 USD per day in the covered Maho Village garage.

Is free parking available?

Yes. Complimentary street parking is available throughout Maho Village, although covered parking is recommended.

Do you have a gift shop?

Yes. Ocean Breeze gift shop is located in the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort lobby, offering a variety of beachwear, essentials, and souvenirs.

Resort Policies

Are guests allowed to smoke on property?
Both Sonesta Resorts are non-smoking properties. Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms or public areas. Designated smoking areas are available for guests’ convenience.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted at either resort. Certified service dogs are welcome.
